Full storage on new iPhone after data transfer

i got my new iphone 16 256 gb 3 days ago and my storage is completely full but on my old iphone i had 198gb space free. How can that have happened? What can I do to free up space without deleting everything from my phone? All that i know is that i passed all my data from a phone to another and randomly my space was filling up more from day to day and now my storage is full and i can’t do anything on my iphone. Can someone help me please?

Do new iPhones compress data differently when transferring it over from one iPhone to the next? I had an 11 Pro Max and just recently transferred my data over to my new 13 Pro Max using the feature where you put the phones next to eachother. Everything looks to be on my new phone, text messages, photos, emails, etc. however my new phone has 18 GB “missing” of storage despite everything looking like it’s been transferred over. I don’t want to reset and trade in my old phone quite yet until I find this out. I have made sure that all my data is downloaded and not just floating on the cloud so to speak so I know that can be crossed off when it comes to the freed up storage space. So my question is do newer iPhones compress data differently in that it doesn’t require as much space? Or are there any other explanations?

More iCloud Storage then Before? Hello! I recently did a iCloud transfer/backup to a new phone. I got a brand new phone but the same one. iPhone 14 Pro Max. I was wondering why before I transferred and had my old phone that I had around 110-120gb used out of 128Gb . Now that I restored everything and I basically see everything of mine besides me having to log into apps now it’s saying I have 62gb used out of 128. Did I do something wrong or do I just get more storage even after backing up?

Storage I moved from iPhone 8 to iPhone 13 mini and transferred from old phone to new. My old phone phone storage was about 40K on the new iPhone it’s maxed out at 127k with the other data accounting for 94GB. I read to do a shut down which I did yesterday and the storage moved backed down to 9GB but it’s cal up to 94GB today. Any advice?
