iPhone xr slow and can’t edit videos

I historically would send a video from my laptop to google drive them download to my iPhone XR where it would auto slomo the video which I would edit then upload to Instagram… as of today I can’t edit the video any more. “There was an error saving this video. Please try again later.” Is the error message I get… also my phone is incredibly slow… I saw this was an issue folks faced last year but seemed to have fixed. What can I do here, other than buy yet another phone?
