Wifi greyed out and mobile data not working, wifi settings restarts phone

Yesterday after turning on my phone the Wifi icon in control panel was greyed out and mobile data was not working correctly, opening any apps with internet just loaded infinitely / gave a connection error.

When opening the wifi tab in settings it freezes for about a minute and then the phone completely restarts.

It also seems to have been restarting randomly while the screen is off.

I have already tried:

resetting network settings

resetting all settings

restarting multiple times

turning on and off airplane mode and mobile data

deleting apps for storage space

I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and if I should take it to be repaired or if there’s anything else I can try. I’m cautious about getting it repaired because when getting things repaired in the past my phone was completely wiped despite me saying not to, and I cannot create a backup due to me having no space left on my laptop and unable to connect to icloud for backup.

For anyone else experiencing a similar issue what I did was check my iCloud from another device for an automatic backup, which there luckily was, and restored the phone from that. After I made this post it started restarting every 5-10 minutes so a backup wasn’t possible. It restored it exactly the same way it was before (including settings, apps, app data, etc) and upgraded to iOS 18, and it seems to be fixed now

There’s really only one more thing you can do… unfortunately, it means you are going to have to clear up enough space on your computer to back it up. The amount of space you have in icloud really isn’t relevant at this point since that would require WiFi to back it up…

You need to back it up, then restore ios using your computer. Do NOT restore your backup yet. Test it. If WiFi still doesn’t work, you need to get it repaired or replaced. If it does work, erase it and restore your backup. if it breaks WiFi again, then the problem is corruption of some kind that’s worked its way into your backup. At that point, erase it and set it up as a new device.
