Cannot update to IOS 17

For the past few years, I haven’t updated my phone. I can’t handle change and apple always rearranges everything on my phone. But this last year, my phone has really slowed down, it crashes, I can’t connect Bluetooth sometimes. And now apps require at least iOS 17. And I had the option to update to iOS 17 instead of iOS 18 for a while now. So I’ve been clearing space and storage to do so. I finally got the storage I needed to update today but I can’t find the option anymore. All it says is iOS 18, and I don’t want to update to it. I heard it’s terrible and reorganizes your photos app horrendously. is there anyway to still update to iOS 17? Through apple or through downloading a different app?

There are three generations of the iPhone SE. The second and third gen models can run iS 18. The first gen model is hardware-limited to no higher than iOS 15.

First we need to you to identify for us which generation you have. You will need this:

Identify your iPhone model - Apple Support

If Settings > General > Software Updates show no available updates, you have a first gen model and are maxed out. Please tell us if you find otherwise.

Mine's an SE2 as well. I like it.

If you cannot update your iOS "over the air," try connectoy to a Mac computer or a win computer with their Apple Devices app installed. Some options are shown here:

Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

At this point, no one here know if the SE2 will support iOS 19. We are all end users like you with no special insight into Apple's plans.

If you’re running anything lower than ios 17 now, your only option is to update to the latest version. 18.2.

If you are currently running a version of ios 17, you can update to the current release of ios 17 if you want instead of to 18.

If I wait for iOS 19, will I avoid the iOS 18 photo app rearrangement? is there a way to buy an iPhone that has iOS 17 on it?

It’s second generation! I bought it, June of 2020. I refuse to buy a new phone cus I love having a home button.
