iPhone Text Tone Sonar removed with iOS 18 - now no message notification

after upgrading to ios18, Sonar notification sound seems to have been removed feom iPhone and now one contact who had Sonar as their text notification sound does not have any text notification sound now. steps taken to solve... removing the text notification sound from the individual's contact record and changing the individual contact's sound to the default text notification sound. No focus mode on. Receiving default message notification sound for other contacts. TIA

No one here can answer that question. This is a user to user only forum, where no one from Apple actively participates. Apple changes tones in the Ring Tones for phone calls and the Tones for messages regularly. If you don't want to use a different text tone, go to the iTunes Store and look for Tones and you'll likely find a sonar tone, which you can buy for about $1. Once you buy it, it can never be taken away.

Sonar is also not in Classic on my iPhone 16 Pro Max, running iOS 18.2. Not that I ever used it, but it's definitely not there as an option.

That's correct. While it is available as a ringtone for phone calls, it is not available as a text tone.

Weird. I have 18.2. No Sonar under Classic or in basic list. I’ll just add the sound back into the phone.
