notifications on home app as organizer not working

I have a smart lock hooked up to my kitchen door and I have it under automation. I am the family organizer on the Home app. However, I am not getting any kind of push notification when the door locks when using automation. Is it possible to be the organizer of the family and still get a notification while using automation? In the morning I can unlock the door manually and get a notification but I don't get one at night when locking the door using automation? Any help as to why I am not getting a notification at night?
