This issue continues with older IOS versions on an iPhone X, IOS 18.2 on an iPad Pro and a brand new desktop iMac running Sequoia 18.2. The Photos app on the desktop will not import photos from the iPhone nor an iPad Pro, both running the latest available software for them. The photos appear to be importing as the circle at the top of the desktop Photos app completes but nothing appears in Imports, Library nor the appropriate Smart Album. A call to Apple support could not resolve the issue but resulted in a promise to get back after hearing from Apple’s engineering staff. It sounded like the Apple Support rep, with whom I was speaking, accessed an internal document outlining an issue with importing photos but none of the steps he took resolved the issue.
Since getting the new 2TB desktop in early October and having the Apple store transfer the data from my late 2015 iMac, I have had nothing but problems with Music and Photos on the iMac. Well over 30 hours on the phone with Apple Support on multiple sessions with second level experts over the interim 2 months. Hopefully Apple will soon get their act together for common functions like importing music and photos!
