iCloud not working on Windows 11

2024-12-09 Mo 13:40 GMT

Stopped working about a fortnight ago.

I have tried to reinstall.

It just says it is "Initialising".

Please advise.

I have the same problem with the Windows 11 iCloud app, for Photos and Drive. I last used it about a month ago, and it worked fine. But today when I try to use it, nothing will sync and I can only view the old thumbnails. I tried reinstalling, and still nothing syncs. (The thumbnails were all deleted with the un- and then re-installation.) With the re-installation of the app, iCloud Photos says "Updating..." forever, and iCloud Drive says "Initializing..." forever. But they never finish; and in File Explorer, neither the Photos nor Drive folders ever show any files.

I called Apple Support but they could not figure it out. Their last option is to call Microsoft (which is unrealistic for home users). Instead I tried installing the iCloud app on a separate Windows 10 computer, but got the same error! Both my computers have all Windows updates and everything else on my home network is fine, so I don't get it.

So if anyone has any ideas beyond reinstalling or calling Apple Support, please post it here.
