SORT albums in IOS 18.1.1

I need to organize the albums in my camera roll . I am using IOS 18.1.1 in IPhone 16 Pro Max . I have searched in google , YouTube , but no one has the answer. I have searched here in the forum too and I couldn’t find an answer.

I only see this when I go to my albums :

Create ( top left ) and then in tabs

Personal -Shared -and Activity

There are not three dots or arrows up and down anywhere to be able to do anything else.

If anyone can reply it would be appreciated. I have many albums and it is very stressful to try to find anything in this mess.

Thank you in advance

You are lucky. iOS 18.2 released a few days ago added an Album sorting option in the Photos App. You can sort by name now. It is available in the new three dot menu when you are in the Album overview.

Yeah, I get that. Unfortunately, there is no automatic ordering of albums in iOS. Those of us with Mac do our arranging in Photos there, and the Mac version does have alphabetical sorting. I'm sorry--that's no help for you.

You can search for an album by name. Even so, the best way to keep up with hundreds of albums is to put them into folders so they are more manageable.

In Photos, albums can be in folders, and folders can be inside bigger folders. This is my Main window in Photos:

I have pictures arranged by date, for instance. The first folder has 6 other folders in it, as well as 11 albums that are not yet in folders. It makes finding albums way easier. (There are also folders with albums that are not by date-- pictures can be in several albums.) Doing this isn't hard on a phone if it's done as pictures come in, but the idea of putting hundreds of pre-existing albums into folders sounds untenable!

iOS still has no way to put a pre-existing album into a folder. Your only option is to create an empty album in the folder, and then select all the pictures in a pre-existing album and "add to album."

Well, the other option is to borrow a Mac where you can drag albums into folders and alphabetize them, then sync to your phone. Oh, well…

I'd suggest you leave a suggestion for Apple here:

After wishing for this feature for over a decade, I was so elated to hear this that I immediately upgraded to iOS 18.2 today.

Good news: I can now finally view the Albums alphabetically😁.

Bad news: When trying to move recently taken photos to their proper Albums by using the lower left option “Add to Album”, all the Albums are still shown chronologically and NOT alphabetically. This is a HUGE disappointment😖.

I’m not seeing any “three dots” or icons inviting me to sort alphabetically😢.

Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated as it appears Apple missed this during the upgrade.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Well, no. Actually, in iOS 18, the default location of Utilities is the section at the bottom of the main window. The default location of Albums is directly under the Library.

But in iOS 18, these can be changed. The very bottom of the main window has "Customize & Reorder," where you can hide sections or move them around:

This shows the default settings, with Albums at the top. By unchecking a section, you can hide it. And you can put these sections in any order you choose.

Thanks for your reply. I was expecting there would be a way to organize them alphabetically like in Amazon photos and Shutterfly . It is difficult when you have several albums to drag them because it is not 10

or 15 that I have. I have more than that, way more since I like to separate pictures in albums to be able to find them, but the fact I can’t order them by name makes them pretty hard to find when you need to. Specially when I am going to add a picture to one of the albums.

Thanks for the reply
