Wi-fi randomly stopped working on my MacBook Pro

Today the Wifi randomly stopped working on my m4 macbook. I first noticed that the wifi extender next to me kept blinking and wouldnt stop blinking. and shortly after that i got some pop up saying Core Sync wants to be able to connect to devices in my network so I pressed yes and shortly after that the wifi stopped working on my laptop but works on all other devices in this house. I googled the issue and tried a bunch of stuff: restart, shut down, dns flush, I ran disk utility, I pressed forget network and now every time I type in the password it cant connect. I ran diagnostics but of course that never does anything. And then weirdly out of nowhere I go a pop up that said This computer's local hostname is already in use on this network. The name has been changed to (redacting name here)-2.local. That seemed really odd and random. I'm typing this message plugged into the wifi. No I have not power cycled the modem/router cause I'm scared once I do that I wont have any internet at all. yes my software is up to date. I'm on sequoia 15.1.1

I just took the new M4 MacBook Pro out of the box and signed in with my Apple ID, and joined my wifi network. I tried to use the migration assistant to transfer data from one of my older laptops. I was unable to sustain a WiFi connection. I restarted the router, eight feet away. I restarted the laptops, turned off WiFi several times and tried it over and over, but the WiFi refused to stay connected for more than a few minutes, before disconnecting. Very frustrated, so I just skipped the data transfer. Now, it is three days of new ownership and I am moving about the house, unable to keep the connection. Every other device in the house has a good full connection, including 3 iphones, a few smart TVs and six other Macs, and a PC. Very disturbing.

You can find out what is on your network. There is a free app on the App Store called ( WiFi Explorer: Scanner ) and it will scan your network and you will be able to see what in on it and the channel s different devices are using. If you enable all the options in it you'll get a overview of what might be causing the problem. If you have neihbours that are close to you you will also see theirs as well, but just look for your network.

You would have to find the directions/manual for the router. Some are fairly easy to use, while others are some what complicated. What you might consider is using a Mesh system rather than a wifi extender. I ran a Extender last year but moved so that eliminated the use of it. Get as close to the router as you can. With a Mesh system is you have a lot more leeway a t getting a better signal for your devices.
