I am truly sorry to hear about the issue you’re having. Tomorrow I am going to try and setup my 16 Pro Max (18.1.1) to a 2025 CX-5 equipped with Carplay.

Here is an Apple link I found about Carplay based on the iOS you have. Maybe it will help you. I’m a bit anxious that my new phone and car aren’t going to be compatible.

Would like to hear if you have success.

GoodLuck!

I’m having the same frustration. Upgraded from 12pro Max to a 16Pro Max and now CarPlay does not work in my 2017 Mazda 3 GT.

called Apple support and they ran through scripts to troubleshoot only to settle on my car does not have CarPlay. Ignoring the fact that it does and that it worked in my car with my older iPhone. Two techs said this to me and the 3rd tech did a screen share and I showed them with my camera that it does have it. They said they didn’t know what the issue was with my car but offered to make it work with another car that has CarPlay.

Would appreciate help if others have solved this.

Hi. I went through the same scenario with Apple both at home and then in the car.

I purchased the lightening connector that goes from USB-A to USB-C and then attached

a 3ft cable from the lightening unit to the phone. In my car, Nissan Rogue, it wants to see

the USB only and now it works great. Make sure your car is seeing the model you have

or it won't work. Make sure you are pairing the phone and the car. It's difficult here but

I was able to get it to work. Let me know what cables you are using. Alan

EKugler, were you able to get the iPhone 16 Pro Max working in your Lexus?

Mine is working fine now in my Nissan Rogue 2019. The Dullard (above)

posted a list of cars that accept Apple Car Play. Mine was listed so you

can check there also. The lightening cable from Apple works fine. There

are a few tricks needed. If carplay doesn't come up. unplug the cable from

the car and replug. Also make sure you are paired with the iphone to the car.

It should be seen on your iphone under General I believe. If no sound, check

the map because it has options on the map screen to turn off navigation sound,

or limit sound to just notifications, or total turn by turn navigation. Hope this

helps. Alan

To all of you who are having trouble getting your Iphone 16 Pro Max to work in your car. My problem was resolved with the tech at Apple. Some of the techs are better at troubleshooting. My phone is working great now. Apple should go through the setup procedure with you as there are a few settings to make in your Iphone first. Once that is accomplished, they then have you try to set up the Iphone in your car. Be sure to pair your device or you will never get it to work. When paired, my device says Nissan Rogue. It will only connect using USB port, not Wifi nor Bluetooth. The Iphone itself when the map shows allows you to use the car speaker turn by turn, if you wish, or the map display, or just recognizes hazards, etc. I use the lightening connector and cord that Apple sells because it transports the necessary data. I tried the cheap connector usb-a to usb-c with a cord and that did not work. You must use the Lightening Connector as recommended in your car manual. The Nissan Rogue recommends it. The tech, a lady, I called was excellent and determined the car has car play. She was right and once I got it to work, it has been wonderful. As an alternative, I also purchased the Herilary-P1 external, Model P1-104k on Amazon but it mounts on top of the dash or on the windshield and connects to your car lighter if you have one. It's cumbersome and surely can be stolen easily. It's a stand alone version and accepts carplay both Android and Iphone. I found I didn't need it. First, make sure your car accepts Apple Car Play. If so, then it's a matter of having Apple go through the setup procedure first on the Iphone. They will check the focus settings, etc. Then they will try and make sure your Iphone connects to the Car Play. If your car, has it, then you should be able to get it to work. It was a bit frustrating but I did get it to work in my Nissan Rogue. I would assume the other cars would be able to work the same way. Merry Christmas to all and be patient. Alan

Mahindra SUV700 is one of the cars listed above under TheDullard. It's a bit trick and a learning curve but I was able to get mine to work in my Nissan Rouge. First, make sure Apple has set up your Iphone 16 Pro or Pro Max.

There are two or three setting that must be correct before Car Play will work. After that, then plug in your Iphone to the car and try to connect. I had to plug and unplug mine a few time while making the attempt. Make sure you have the Iphone paired to your car. If the car doesn't recognize it, you won't be able to get it to work. After its paired, you should be able to connect properly to the Iphone. Three possibilities. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB. My car will only work on USB. I bought the lightning Connector and a cord from Apple. This worked.

the data must be able to be transferred from the Iphone to the car. The cheap connector USB-a to USB-c did not work with my Nissan. My manual recommended the Lightning Cord and cable which I didn't use at first. Hope this helps. You might tell me if you have done the Apple test first with Apple and then the car. Alan

God Bless you EKugler. Yes, that is exactly what I experienced too. Just kept at it and then once it started to

work, I wrote down the steps needed and now I get it going in the car before I start driving. You might want to continue the support to others indicating what you did. It does take some fiddling around that we aren't used to doing. However, everyone is saying "it worked in the car before Iphone 16 Pro Max". I did have one rep tell me they realize there is a problem getting Iphone 16 Pro Max to work, so maybe in a future upgrade, they will have a better fix than what we all have gone through. The good news, is that you and I were able to get it to work and I'm not much of a techy. However, the lady tech I got was fantastic. One thing is if a person can get it escalated up the chain to their main techs, they understand the problem much better. Happy New Year EKugler. Alan

I’m having the exact same problem with my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my XUV700.

I contacted Apple support, but they’re completely clueless. They’ve gone through countless troubleshooting steps with the car, yet still no solution. Now they’re asking me to test with another car (same model) and another iPhone (same 16 Pro Max). I told them straight up—I can’t just pull another car and phone out of nowhere. But they insist this “isolation” is necessary before escalating it to the engineering team. Honestly, it feels like they’re stalling, just throwing out impossible options to avoid fixing the issue and stringing customers along.
