When will Apple enable FLAC file support for its users?

This is a user to user support forum. Nobody here knows what Apple might be planning. Given how long iTunes and Music have gone without support for FLAC however you might draw your own conclusions about any sense of urgency.

So, see if it ends up being fixable, what I’ve provided are steps to follow, essentially being a few workarounds.

Playing .flac Files on a Mac:

A. On Apple Music:

Playing .flac files is not and option for Apple Music. However, you can convert the .flac file to a format Apple Music can handle (i.e. .mp3 and .alax).

B. Try Another Player:

Another option may be to try another player, perhaps QuickTime Player. See here: Download QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 - Apple Support

C. Reconned this to Apple:

Do your Part: Inform Apple of your feedback. Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more feedback thy receive from its users, the more likely they will know what needs to be fixed. Apple will know nothing of your ideas, if you don't report them to them.

1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
2. Select: "Feature Request" for the "Feedback Type"
3. Select: "Application/Utilities" for the "Feedback Area"
4. Comment: that you want this to be an option, and why. Include the URL of this thread.
5. Proceed from there as necessary.
