Error Code B28374 When Using Chase Ultimate Rewards Points at Checkout

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to purchase an iPad using my Chase Ultimate Rewards points, but I keep encountering an error code B28374 during the checkout process. Has anyone else run into this issue before? If so, how did you resolve it?

Any advice or steps you took to make the transaction go through would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I have also been having this same issue for the past week or so. I have called Chase and Apple Ultimate Rewards Store multiple times to address this and they have said it is a software issue on their end, with no recourse provided. It is very frustrating since I have been waiting to redeem my points until this month to get the extra 50% bonus offer.

Just an update. On Dec 3rd I was told via a phone call from the Chase Executive Office that Chase was aware of my problem and I would be getting a call from the appropriate Chase department to get my issue "resolved." As of today, Dec 9th, I haven't heard from anyone from Chase.

I have the POC's name and direct phone line. I'll call them later today and ask where things are at. I'll be sure to keep the group posted.

I'm having the same issue for 3 days now. Everything looks fine but when I try to checkout I get the "no can do" message and the error code B28374. I've tried everything I can think of, but still no luck. I've called Chase Sapphire Reserve customer service (and I use that term loosely!) a couple of times a day. Mary and Mike just keep apologizing and saying they understand my frustration and are so very sorry. I've asked if Chase is going to extend the 50% bonus period past Nov 30th for those of who aren't being allowed to check out and have been told no. So, apparently, the folks in the Manila call center do know a little something, huh!

I've also called Apple about a fix/work around, but they told me the issue was on Chase's end and that couldn't do anything.

Anyone else starting to think Chase bit off more than they could chew and are trying to cut their loses? "Things that make you go hmmm?"

I hope you are too! My concern is, how is Apple going to know who to contact? I spoke with Apple in the USA last Monday and thay said the problem was on Chase's end. ???

On a side note, I tried paying for the products with points and using my CC to pay for the taxes. Still got the "no can do" B28374 error code. Today the taxes showed up as a charge on my CC transactions on the website, but then it was credited back to me. Again, ???

All I know is I've been paying for 2 CSR CCs (one for me and one for my wife) for years now and this is the first time I've tried to redeem points. We've accumulated over 600K and, If I don't get to use the points for what I want, then I'm seriously considering cancelling the card and leaving Chase altogether. There are other rewards cards that will give me airport lounge access!

Hello All,

So, After a couple of back and forths with the POC at the Executive Office on the 9th & 10th, I finally was able to order the Apple products on the 11th using my points. The only problem was I was NOT able to take advantage of the 50% bonus.

When I notified the POC that I was able to place the order, they said that Chase had to "fix" something on their end, but didn't tell me exactly what. They also told me I would be getting 50% of the points I used credited back to my Ultimate Rewards account after my items had shipped. As of today, two of the three items have shipped. I'll keep you all updated on the points as things progress.

A big Thank You to Jeff Donald! You were absolutely correct, contacting the CEO's office was the way to go, and they did (if I get the promised credit) make things right!

I tried to order a new Iphone 16 today using my ultimate reward points and got the same error code. Called customer service # on back of card: resulted in 2 dropped calls and talking to 4 different departments with zero resolution. Each group directed me back to the other with ZERO ownership. Sent DM to chase via X and was told to call apple service team at 855-245-0470 (don't bother as this a a fulfillment center and they cannot assist with placing/approving orders) and spent another 10 minutes with them. ZERO resolution. Lastly, they recommended I clear my cache and cookies (you can't make this stuff up) and see if that resolved the issue. Strangely, I was able to place an order for some Airpod Max headphones earlier today. Absolutely nightmare process.

Per Jeff Donald's advice, I emailed the Chase Bank CEO. He never replied to me, but I have had a couple of phone calls from the Executive Office about the issue. The last one was earlier today. They told me I would be getting a call from the Chase Apple folks to work on "resolving" my issue. I specifically told them I wanted Chase to extend the 50% rewards points bonus so I could make the purchase. They never said Chase would do that but, hopefully that is what will happen. I'll be sure to keep this group updated.

BTW, I did tell them that I was not the only person having the issue and about this chat group. The CEO's email is: j******n@jpmchase.com for those who would like to try the same thing.

Thanks, AMC423.

I actually called Chase about whether there was any kind of security flag or hold on my account and they said they didn't see anything, so this is part of the problem but likely not the entire explanation.

This is actually the second time I've had issues redeeming my points at the 3rd Party Apple Store. First time around I redeemed a Macbook Air and for some reason it was canceled without any kind of notification to me. I only found out two weeks later after logging into my account and seeing that my order has been canceled. When I called Chase Ultimate Rewards department said it had something to do with a security/fraud issue, and similar to what AMC423 said, after they removed the flag the we were able to re-place the redemption order and it went through. I believe in that instance we re-placed the order over the phone.

That's interesting, I thought it was just me getting this same error message. I've been having this issue since last night. I called Chase Unlimited Customer Service and Apple Ultimate Rewards last night, and they kept pointing fingers at each other as to who is causing the issue. As I was receiving the error message, my card was charged, and then credited back to my account. I called Apple Ultimate Rewards this morning, and the representative said she has never heard of this system issue. Hopefully this will get fixed soon.
