I have had this iPhone 14 pro max for two years and just had it sound an Amber alert for the first time tonight. I have always had them turned off. My husband has an iPhone 14 pro and it also had the amber alert happen this evening. Both phones are have current software updates. Does anyone have an idea why this happened?

Usual reason is that the senders of the alert picked the wrong selection when sending it, though you will want to verify the alert settings shown are still as you intended.
Given these choices, I’ve shut off all the alerts, leaving only the presidential alert unblocked and unblockable.
Though the last test of that alert failed around here…
Thanks for answering so promptly. From what I’ve read online the emergency alerts is the Presidential alert and I do have that one on but amber alerts as I said has been off for two years. I also read that emergency alerts can include amber alerts. I know you can’t always believe google though.
Amber alerts still sounding even though I have them turned off.
