Health Shows Rings Paused, But They’re Not Paused

Just like the title says. Fitness app shows rings moving during the day but the Apple Watch complication is greyed out and when I check Health it says that my rings are paused. In the fitness app on both the watch and the phone, I only have the option to Pause Rings, not to resume them.

I didn't, because I have never actually paused them. They're just showing as paused, and then when I look at the rings the next day I'm told that they were paused (even though I could see the ring progress throughout the day).

Just to make sure, I've gone ahead just now and paused them for just one day to see if maybe doing a full day's pause will "reset" the process that is happening without my consent.

I was actually able to resolve my issue. The problem I was having is that I had multiple Apple Watch instances that were feeding to Health. I basically had to delete all data from those Apple Watch instances except the current one, as one of them appears to have paused the rings and then disabled itself so that nothing could override it having paused the rings. :(
