AirPods Pro 2 adaptive audio has stopped working

Conversation awareness was becoming patchy (sometimes working and sometimes not working) I notice it when I’m walking my dogs, and a call them, or if I was talking with somebody then the radio would lower the volume. Now I can’t get it to work at all. I’ve tried turning modes on and off to see if it would work if I had something else turned on verses off but can’t get it to work at all. Please help?

I have since cleaned the grills for the microphone’s I presume? By lightly pushing some blu tack onto them them carefully peeling off it seems to have pulled dirt out of the grills, and for now seems to be working 👍
