Stop Podcasts autoplaying

iPhone seems to often (but not always) start a random episode of some show when the one I am listening to finishes. Setting continuous play off in the podcast app settings does not prevent this.

I can think of no circumstances in which this would be the behaviour I would want to see. Is there a permanent way to prevent the podcast app ever starting to play an episode until I actually click the play button?

Why are Apple Podcasts playing a random show by default when the current podcast ends? I am so frustrated listening to your podcast app. I typically listen to many episodes from one specific show, one after another. I don’t know if it was the iOS 18 update back in 2024, but for a long time now, each time an episode from a specific show ends, another show will play right afterwards— a show that I do not want to listen to. Even if I manually remove every single show from the Up Next area, the next day, there will be a whole bunch of random shows back in there. Continuous Playback of podcasts When one podcast finishes another starts, sometimes its a different program. I have turned off 'Continuous Playback'. It seems to be a new feature, maybe with the last update. Can I disable/turn it off?

Random episodes from random shows end up in the Podcast's next queue post update Since updating to the new iOS, random episodes from random shows end up in up in the up next queue at the end of the episode. I used to get the next episode from the show I was listening to, how can I change it back to this? I have continuous playback turned off as I listen to episodes while falling asleep and I don’t want episodes playing all night. But if I reach the end of the episode I just want to have the next episode automatically load so I can play it if I want to without having to go back into the library [Re-Titled by Moderator]

There is a setting for continuous playback . Try that
