HomePod intercom volume too low

Last 3 months or so the intercom on the HomePod’s the volume is too low, the time before playing is loud enough just the intercom message is far lower than it used to be, so low he message can’t be heard.


turning the volume up on the HomePod before the message is played makes little difference to the volume of the message but the tone before hand becomes unbearable loud and obviously music etc is too loud then.


Playing the intercom message on an iPhone or iPad is also played very quiet.


making an intercom from an iPad or iPhone results in the message being played back on the HomePods at the volume we’ve been used to for years,


so the problem looks to be when intercoms are created via HomePods they then play back too low on HomePods and handhelds, but when created on iPhones or iPads they play back just fine.


how do we restore the intercom volume for messages created on HomePods?
