My iPhone 16 Pro Max is freezing and restarting. Any tips to deal with this?

I'm having this exact issue, I can't even use the phone. Force restart DOES NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I've used my computer to restore the phone to no avail. I've tried toggling off/on cellular, toggling off/on wifi, no luck. I was in a chat with a tech and they asked me to do a diagnostic that revealed no issue.

I expect better from Apple. This feels like a ripoff.

I’m having similar issues. Bought my phone on 9/20/24 from the Apple Store for $1599 Pro Max 1 TB. I noticed that it freezes up between apps and eventually turns itself off and reboots. Some applications don’t start and some icons don’t show up.

I recommend you try a force reset ⇢

• Press and quickly release the volume up button.
• Press and quickly release the volume down button.
• Press and hold the side button.
• When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.

If a force reset doesn’t work, in most places, Apple has a 14 day return policy, so you may be able to exchange it for a different iPhone.

If a force reset doesn't help, perhaps your region allows returns, in which you can do so and exchange for a new iPhone.

UPDATE:

I reset all settings and it seems to have resolved the issue. No freeze/spinning icon/restart since. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is very fast and responsive. If this holds I will be very happy, and hope this helps others who might be having the same issue.

It can be a pain to have to sign in to everything again/set up Apple Pay/set up alarms/etc, but worth it for a functional phone.

Bought my iPhone 16 plus on 9/23/24. The very next day it wouldn’t turn on went to Genius Bar and they got it started. I turned it off last night to charge and this morning wouldn’t turn. Eventually it did turn on with a hard start… but do I want to keep this phone? I can take it back today because it’s before the 14 return policy ends. I have mixed feelings about to do but I’m not rich and I want a reliable good phone. Not this freezing up and maybe it will turn on or not! Any advice would help! Thanx

I may have found a work-around for this. I was restoring my new phone from an iCloud backup, and the phone was unusable. Reset the phone and restored from a computer backup instead. Worked like a charm. Maybe because I have so many apps? Who knows, but that did it for me.

Give a force reset a try, as stated in my post above. Also, your region may allow returns, so if you don't wanna take your chances with this iPhone already facing issues, you may be able to return it.

iPhone 16 shutting off refreezing this is not acceptable. Apple do something.

Yeah, but who wants to keep resetting their phone? This is ridiculous. These phones cost almost $1000 and they can’t even run right
