CarPlay freezing after iOS 18 update

Periodically, but fairly frequently, CarPlay freezes. Often when switching between listening to a book using Libby and a map either google maps or Apple Maps.

I called Apple Support, and they were not helpful. They suggested that I take the car to the car dealership. I verified that another iPhone running iOS 16.X works perfectly in my 2019 Camaro.

The phone without working CarPlay in the 2019 Chevy Camaro will work on a 2020 Chevy Silverado, which has wired CarPlay with a USB-C Lightning Cable.

Multiple fixes that did NOT WORK:

  1. Removed car from the CarPlay Settings.
  2. Removed all phones from the infotainment system.
  3. New lightning cable.
  4. Different USB port.
  5. Disabled blue tooth.
  6. Restarted Phone.
  7. Restarted Infotainment.

I assume resetting the phone to factory defaults and using an older iOS will resolve the problem. I am extremely frustrated with the poor quality of iOS updates starting with version 17. I will switch to an Android phone if Apple cannot resolve continued CarPlay issues and buggy updates.

Waze keeps freezing in carplay. Dealer just installed latest update for car, tried numerous different cables and different different ports. The longer I drive the more it freezes. You end up missing turns and information from the GPS. Tried to not listen to podcasts, but made no difference. Rebooted phone. Have lastest IOS installed. It worked fine until the last IOS update.

I own a 2019 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab and it’s doing the same thing. I took it to the dealership and they put in a brand new infotainment radio and it did not solve the issue. I plugged in my wife’s IPhone 11 with the older IOS and no issues there. I was actually able to use the CarPlay without having to worry about it resetting. My friend who works at the dealership as a mechanic told me that Chevy’s radio is not Apple friendly. So either Chevrolet or Apple need to solve this issue. It’s frustrating.

It freezes up and then restart my whole system and everything. my USB drive my dash cam everything so annoying. I’ve reinstalled blue tooth Done all the things that they’ve asked me to do so annoying how do I go back to the previous patch?
