While surfing/reading news sites-local news-keep getting screen bubble asking to download occ.

I did not request this “occ”
thing. It came on multiple websites. Some local news. Some national news. Some retail sites.
it appears overlayed and seems to run a high risk of accidental engagement.
Very much like those very bad pop ups that indicate your computer is infected and to call some number and your computer seems locked up. You call the number and bingo. Since this type of issue has occurred on the laptop, was looking for advice on how stop it. If possible.

Happens to me on chrome iOS 17 at the bottom of the browser. Not a popup.
Whatever the justification there is NEVER a reason why anyone should accept any download of this nature.
Easily could be malware.
Therefore it’s a security issue on the iPhone ver 17

What do you do to get rid of this OCC
I’ve been seeing this for a few days now. I have 17.7.
Looks like a google add issue with WebKit. I cleared all history and closed all tabs in safari. (Signs out of Google search). Problem went away. Not really convenient. Signed back into google account in google search in safari and after a few website visits I noticed the occ on an add page very briefly as I closed the window in the safari browser. Just a brief quick moment. Must be in a background layer. Probably Google trying to circumvent apples add control features.
just my opinion.
maybe 18 will fix it.
I would also add that safari is the only browser I use. I use chrome on a laptop though I rarely use a laptop.
