Updating iPhone 15 to iOS 17.6.1 via Finder on iMac

How can I update my iPhone 15 (iOS 17.6.1) to the "newer" version my iMac tells me is available (iOS 17.6.1)?

I've tried it once and the iMac tells me it's done it. Then, whenever I connect the iPhone to the iMac to back up and sync files, the iMac tells me "A newer version of the iPhone software is available (version 17.6.1). To update your iPhone with the latest software, click Update." In Finder the iMac displays the current iPhone Software: iOS 17.6.1. Everything appears to be OK with the iPhone and Settings shows it has iOS 17.6.1.

Should I just keep clicking that Update button until they agree or wait for the next update?

Apple issued a revised iOS 17.6.1, which can only be installed via Finder to your iPhone. Whether you feel it important to install, is up to you. Personally, I didn't install it on our iPhones. Whatever they changed, will be incorporated in the next iOS update you receive on your phone directly.

It's confusing because Apple released two different updates with the same version number a few weeks apart.....a "re-release" basically.

You can try clicking that Update button if you want, but as far as I can tell, there is very little change with the "new" version.

I did Update again and now Finder and the phone agree the software is up to date. In the phone Settings>About shows the version is now 17.6.1 (21G101). Finder doesn't appear to give that detail until you click on the version and it appears.
