MacBook Pro Issues with Sonoma 14.6.1

Similar to other concerns on this forum, right after I (finally) downloaded Sonoma (last week) my MacBook Pro started acting up - the fan runs almost all the time, the computer gets super hot, and the battery life is awful. I have done nothing else to my computer, and it hasn't given me any problems until this update. I did turn off the screensaver and maybe that's helped a little. I'm suspicious, as other people have mentioned on this forum, that it's not a coincidence, and it's Apple's way of trying to nudge me to spend thousands of dollars on a new laptop. Sincerely regretting my decision to upgrade.

No, its not. and if all you want to do is whine about that issue, you should do it somewhere other than in Apple's house.

--------

whenever you do a major upgrade, mds and mdworker will show as using measurable amounts of processing power in Activity Monitor. These tasks will spend a few hours of awake-but-not-too-busy time building new index of every word in every file for Spotlight and Time Machine to use as a reference. Have you allowed enough time for that to complete? (You can tell when it is willing do attempt a spotlight search for you, instead of erroring out.)

if you have installed apps that included complex extensions, they may not be working properly under the new MacOS and could cause the sysptoms you describe.

By far the easiest way to cause poor performance, instability, overheating and crashing is to install ANY third-party speeder-uppers, Cleaners, Optimizers, or Virus scanners, Bit Torrent, or a VPN that you installed yourself. They are relentless in scanning your files, non-stop, looking for virus-like patterns in Everything, or looking for files that have changed. When completed, they do it all again.

¿Do you have anything like that installed?
