Digital Video capture from DV tape deck to 2022 MacBook Air M2 running Monterey

Many of us have libraries of DV and DVCAM footage stored going back into the mid 90's, and often we acquire new tools to repair and enhance this footage for new edits.

Why should it be such a fuss to turn off the laptop camera when a digital feed is coming in through a second USB-C port? Disabling the camera through Security and Privacy list doesn't work, and neither Quicktime Player nor iMovie show up as host apps for capture in the Security list so they can’t be controlled.

One support note says it isn't necessary, the laptop will sense the signal coming in, which is fine, but it's not working, all we get is an active camera we cannot turn off. No good.

We welcome help!

Best as always,

Loren
