AirPods Pro cannot pause/play/skip

I am using an iPhone 15 and the AirPods Pro.

I can only pause whatever I’m listening to by touching the controls on my phone or taking out my AirPods. I’ve tried resetting and disconnecting but it still won’t work. I’ve also tried on a different device (Macbook) to no avail. I’m not sure if I’m pressing the buttons wrongly, but I would really like to be able to pause my music without turning on my phone.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Pausing Music without Paired Device Turned On:

You Can't. Without the paired device powered on, and without these ding downloaded onto this device from your iTunes Library, you cannot mouse, not can you play these. So, download them and you can pause and play them all you want.
