For those who stumble onto this chat because their virtual button has disappeared. I just found out from Apple Support Assistive Touch virtual home button does not work (disappears) with ”Accessability - Display & Text Size - Bold Text” turned on. Turning this off and my virtual button comes back. IPadOS 17.5.

Thanks! I was trying hard to turn it on, and the menu button just wouldn’t show. Ridiculous that these to assistive features cannot be used at the same time. Also ridiculous that there is no notification or instructions to indicate a conflict.
