Sort order when you do a search in Mac Notes?

I'm thinking about moving back to Mac Notes, from Evernote. (On an iMac M1 running Sonoma.)

The current version of Notes still seems to have some unusual behavior:

--You can sort all of your notes, in Settings, so they display sorted by the title; that's good.

--When I want to find a particular note I do a Search for a word, and then plan to scan the list of matching notes to find the specific one I am looking for.

--Unfortunately, the results of the Search show the notes is some arbitrary order, no longer sorted by the title (making it harder to find and open the Note I'm trying to find.)

Am I missing something?

Is there a setting somewhere that can fix this?

Is this a bug?

You aren't missing anything, search sort order (and even search contents) have been broken in Notes.app for many years now, and there doesn't seem to be any interest in fixing it. I have 10k+ notes, some written by me, some just collections of links I found around the web, etc. When I search for a very specific word the returned results are ordered seemingly randomly with much better results returned way lower in the list than complete garbage that I don't understand why it's included at all.

I have hoped for many years for a real fix because it used to work as expected: I think the breaking change was introduced ~3-4 years ago now. At least an advanced search (where you could choose to only match notes containing the exact word or phrase) would be great.
