News Plus issues do not download and this needs to be addressed

Apple are you listening?? I have seen several issues posted about how magazines cannot be downloaded for offline reading. This has happened to me several times and it is incredibly frustrating.

I have an iPad Pro with plenty of space and all the latest OS updates. I frequently see new issues of my favorite magazines and can tap the download button, but nothing happens.

The issues are not available when my iPad is offline (such as when traveling, which is why I am trying to use this function). But when I use the menu to try to download them again, my only option is to remove the issue. It does not show up in my downloads, but I cannot download it again.

There is no rhyme or reason to why this happens. Rebooting does nothing. The only consistent fix I have ever found for this is to completely delete the Apple News app, reinstall it, and re-download the magazines.

Is there anyway to see the queue of magazines we are trying to download? Is there any way to give us some kind of progress bar to show the download progress? There are several user interface features that could make this process much easier, particularly if Apple is not going to address these long-standing issues.

What is worse is that this function worked perfectly with Texture over five years ago. Apple bought the company (which I am fine with) but the functionality is so much worse.

PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE!

I am also having problems with AutoExpress and other publications.

Solution is often to delete the News app and reinstall, but lately that isn’t helping, either.

there is some database corruption and/or how it downloads issues from the source (unclear if Apple manages these, or if it’s like Podcasts in which they’re downloaded from a third party).

one correction - there IS a status bar - under the issue thumbnail, it turns grey initially, then red as it progresses in the download.

but for now, it’s stuck on grey.

amd for the Apple feedback advice - both the useless form AND useless L1/L2 support have done NOTHING.

for a paid service.

as have AppleCare support (the warranty service itself, not the repair of devices)

I’ve sent a letter to Apple counsel after their IR team gave me a condescending response.
