Airprint not working Google Nest Wifi Pro

My home wifi network is a Google Nest Wifi Pro network and a few days ago AirPrint stopped working. I have seen a few other people report the same problem over the past few days and some people are pointing to an update of the Apple HomeKit software (including AirPrint) that came through a few days ago.

Anyone else having any problems?

The symptoms are:

  • iOS devices do not find (what used to show up as) AirPrint capable printers - mine is a Canon G6030
  • My Mac sees the printer intermittently but the printer appears to 'go offline' occasionally

Having the same issue with Google Nest Wifi pro and both a Brother MFC-J4335DW and an older HP OfficeJet 8710. I thought it was just the old OfficeJet but it appears to be a Google Nest Wifi problem. All my other devices seem stable but after some period of time the AirPrint printers just go offline.

I’ve tried both hard wiring my OfficeJet to the access point and switching from DHCP to static IPs on both printers and nothing helps.

The printers think they are still on the network but outside computers (Macs and PCs) can’t ping the IP address and the printer isn’t discoverable on my iPhone or Mac.

The problem doesn’t resolve itself by restarting the printers or reconnecting to the WiFi. But if I reset the Google Nest Wifi Pro endpoints from the Google Home app, the printers start working.

My suspicion is that this is more a Google issue than an Apple one.
