A1294 Apple TV 3rd generation remote stopped working

was working for many years, same ATV and remote
suddenly remote stopped working
battery replaced, tried 2 different new from a store
light on ATV does not lit when pressing remote’s buttons @Vinceassociate
ATV does work, I can AirPlay with iPhone
for the first days when silver remote was not working I used previously paired Remote App on iPhone, but after few days it asked for entering a code on ATV and I couldn’t do it because remote was not working
I tried pressing menu and left/right but no effect, light on ATV does not log when pressing
i was pointing remote towards ATV and kept it closed
few times when I was replacing battery “right” was activated, but without pressing the button
i cleaned the inside and checked metal elements which touch the battery

Can I buy new remote for such an old ATV model? Will it work with my device?

The old style Apple Remote (aluminum) A1294 needs to be linked to the Apple TV box, both for after a battery change, and when used as replacement/a different Apple TV box.

Do both steps, the unlinking and then the linking.

Can I buy new remote for such an old ATV model? Will it work with my device?

The newer model remotes from Apple will not work with legacy models Apple TV. You will need the Apple Remote (aluminum) [A1294] for Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) [A1378, A1427, A1469]. Apple doesn’t sell the old model remote anymore, but select other resellers may still have a few.

As I mentioned before, been there, did that. When I press button on a Remote and ATV is on, light on ATV box does not lit, like it does not receive any signal from the remote. So unpairing and paring do not work.

I didn't open the remote and didn't clear it yet, this is the final thing I haven't done yet.
