App store keeps disappearing after turning it to allow in content & privacy section

I have an iPad air 8 for my son and I set the install app, deleting apps and in-app purchases set to Don't allow so my son wont download just any app without my permission. When I tried to set the app store to allow so I can update the apps on his ipad. the store will show up then after a couple secs would disappear. Even if i'm in the app it will disappear. I've tried the hard reboot, the reset home screen layout. Besides from resetting the ipad to default settings is there anything else that can be done?

I had the same issue with the latest iOS update 17.5.1.

I went into screen time and allowed App Store purchases like you describe that you normally do. But then I turned off content and privacy restrictions, rebooted the iPad and then the App Store would show up and stay. When I was done updating apps I turn content and privacy restrictions back on and then set App Store purchases back to Don’t Allow.

I did this on three different kid iPads so I’m confident it works.

Can Apple please respond to this issue, or link to where it may have been solved elsewhere? I’m experiencing the exact same issue. Currently running iOS 17.5.1. And no I’m not a novice and the app isn’t simply “hidden”. It appears and then suddenly disappears after a few seconds, even after rebooting and resetting app layout.

Awesome thanks for that. By setting everything to Allow, and Turning off Content and Privacy Restrictions it brought the App Store back without even resetting. Many thanks. Apple have caused me days of work with this bug as I have hundreds of shortcuts which stupidly, are treated the same as a apps, and after previously resetting my phone had been spread over 10 pages on my phone. Time to complete putting them all back again.

First, perhaps understand the Apple Support Community is a user-to-user technical forum. Contributors here are all end-users, just like you. Other than the site Moderators, Apple neither monitor nor participate here.

As such, if you hope to reach Apple through these forums, you will be disappointed.

As for your issue, if you are unable to resolve a problem - either yourself or through posting here - you would be well advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.

Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
