iOS 17.5 update broke Notes FaceID and known password no longer works

Iphone XSMax

iOS 17.5 (now 17.5.1)

I have a custom password for my Notes and face ID to unlock my locked notes. I had used a few of my locked notes the night before the upgrade to 17.5. Immediately following the upgrade I tried to access the notes and my face ID was no longer working I went into the Notes application noted that Face ID was enabled and it was using a custom password still. The notes application will only work with the password but the known password that I have no longer works and face ID does not work so I checked in the section labeled "face ID and passcode" and noted that "NOTES" was no longer in the "Other Apps" list to toggle on and off.

After a lengthy and frustrating call with support with no resolution it was to be passed on to higher level support technicians and engineers to attempt to resolve or come up with an answer.

The Answer received: "I wanted to let you know that we have heard from the engineers. They are saying this is expected behavior. We may not be able to help you with resetting it, even if you remember the old password."

Has anyone had this issue with Notes and 17.5?

If you have no notes with 'custom password and faceid enabled, can you test it to verify my issue? (create password simple one...enable Face ID, make a note and lock it, make sure Face ID works, then update to 17.5 and see if you can still unlock it)

If you have this issue with locked notes before update and now you cannot access it, we need to get this to the supports attention.
