This has happened to me three times. Received notification of low battery for AirTag, changed battery according to instructions by Apple and AirTag is dead. No sound when inserting battery, will not connect with app. Tried different batteries, all new and nothing.
Replaced with old low battery and still dead. It’s like changing the battery at all kills device. Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply. I’ll keep not that those solutions may not work for everyone. Other tricks that some have had success with is to use vinegar or citric acid to clean the battery or to use fine sandpaper to rub off the coating.
I wondered about that but I had not heard of it until today’s visit to the Forum. I’ll give it a try! Thanks!!
Update
I tried the cleaning trick with my new replacement Duracell and it didn’t work. I had an Energizer battery and tried that and the AirTag came right to life!
