AirTag won’t connect after replacing battery

My AirTag stated that the battery was low and to replace the battery. I replaced with a new battery, but never hear a beep when I install the battery. I did it numerous times. It does not work. Everything was installed correctly. I even used another battery from my other AirTag and it still does not beep or connect, so it can’t be the battery. Does anyone have any recommendations?

The "beep" does indicate that the AirTag is receiving power from the replacement battery.

If you don't hear a beep when replacing the battery, then one of two things may be possible:

  1. The AirTag's speaker is damaged, or
  2. The AirTag is defective.

Double-check four things with the current replacement battery:

  1. That it does not have a bitterant coating.
  2. That is a CR2032 battery. Other coin batteries look very similar.
  3. That the battery contacts are clean without any debris.
  4. That it is placed with the "+" up before securing the battery cover. I know you know this, but it can be overlooked.

I have already checked all four of your bullet points. There’s no issue with any of them. The new battery works in my other AirTag. The AirTag in question is clean and there is no visible problem. It was working well until I replaced the battery. The only reason I replaced the battery was that it stated that the previous battery was low.
