Sharing iMessages to iPhone and iPad does syncing cause a problem?

If I only keep one year of messages on my iPad and never delete messages on my iPhone and my iCloud synchs iMessages will I loose messages? Will synching messages on my iPad mean I loose messages older than one year on iCloud?
