CarPlay dual screen issues

I have exactly the same issue. It seemed to change overnight and think an iOS update changed the ‘dual screen’ and I much preferred the old style.

This is an Apple driven change and would be great if there could be an option to choose how the maps work and display when you have a route planned.

Yes, that’s how it works now. Not all cars support the dual displays. Check the owners manual. I would think you should be able to control whether the navigation instructions are displayed in the instrument cluster or something else, just as you should be able to do so when using the car’s built in nav system.

I have been frustrated by this as well @apple - I used to have very useful displays of the same information in the instrument cluster and on the middle screen of my BMW X7 - 2023, and now one has to be route overview and one is the closer (much more useful) map. It's much less functional and much less beautiful. As noted in this thread, this is an Apple software change. It should be user selectable. iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 17.5.1

Don’t know what model phone your wife has or what version of ios it’s running but yours is behaving exactly as it should with the newest version of ios installed.
