The Wifi and Bluetooth on my iPhone 12 will not turn on since latest update

I am using an iPhone 12. I am unable to access Wi-Fi settings and Bluetooth settings. My current iOS Version is the latest one, iOS 17.4.1. My Wi-Fi and Bluetooth were working fine, before I installed all of these iOS Updates.

When I try to switch Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on from the Control Centre, they say that they are searching for connections, and the icons turn blue as though they are on. However, I can not switch the icons back off while they are like this, and when I close and re-open the Control Centre, both icons go back to showing as being switched off.

When I go to Wi-Fi Settings in the Settings App, I can not switch the slider on, it does not move. When I go to Bluetooth Settings in the Settings App, it constantly shows a refreshing or buffering icon that does not go away.

Whenever I open the Settings App, next to where it says Bluetooth, it will occasionally say 'Unavailable', before changing to say 'Off' again.

I tried everything that I have seen from other posts, such as resetting Network Settings, forcefully shutting my iPhone down, deleting VPN Profiles, et cetera. Other devices that I have are able to perfectly connect to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, so I know that the router is working. I have no VPN that I know of. I do not know whether a particular app that I have, or something with my Mobile Data, or a setting that eludes me, is causing the issue.

My Mobile Data (I have it set to 4G) is working fine. I am able to take calls while on my Mobile Data. I am not able to go to an Apple Store, as there are none nearby me, and it would be too expensive, anyways.

If anybody is able to help me, I would greatly appreciate it. If more information is needed from myself, let me know.

I have been tinkering around and I will see if its a solid solution, but, going to privacy settings and turning location off, followed with going to find my iPhone and removing bluetooth devices there, then volume button-reset(s) got it to eventually work where I can access my bluetooth list and delete all the devices or whatever you may have on there.

Good luck I pray an update fixes this issue!

* If it still doesn't work if the issue reverts back to its ways and this isn’t a solution I will update this reply. *

WiFi or Bluetooth Greyed and not working

Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Turn off your iPhone, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

  1. Restart the device. That's it.
  2. Still not solved --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings: Only network settings are removed.

  • When you reset network settings, previously used networks and VPN settings that weren’t installed by a configuration profile or mobile device management (MDM) are removed. Wi-Fi is turned off and then back on, disconnecting you from any network you’re on. The Wi-Fi and Ask to Join Networks settings remain turned on.
  • To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management, select the configuration profile, then tap Remove Profile. This also removes other settings and accounts provided by the profile. See Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone in this guide.
  • To remove network settings installed by MDM, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management, select the management, then tap Remove Management. This also removes other settings and certificates provided by MDM. See “Mobile device management (MDM)” in the iOS Deployment Reference.
  • Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

If the above fails...

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings: All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, the Home screen layout, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.

  1. Reset All Settings: Return iPhone settings to their defaults - Apple Support:- Return iPhone settings to their defaults
  2. You can return settings to their defaults without erasing your content.
  3. If you want to save your settings, back up your iPhone before returning them to their defaults. For example, if you’re trying to solve a problem but returning settings to their defaults doesn’t help, you might want to restore your previous settings from a backup.

Make sure you have the latest updates installed.

  1. Update Over-the-Air (OTA) —> Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
  2. Update using iTunes/Finder —> Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (IN)

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your device model and iOS version.

If nothing above works probably it could be your iPhone may have a WiFi radio or antenna problem. In that case, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact Apple Support and get the hardware tested and if needed repaired/replaced.

Hi, thanks for replying. However, as stated in my initial message, I already tried doing things from this list. I even repeated the processes, including Resetting All Settings, but I am still without Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Also as stated-

So they are not always greyed out, at least if I try to interact with the buttons in the Control Centre. Regardless, pressing the buttons does not seem to change the lack of ability to access my Wi-Fi Settings and Bluetooth Settings, even in the Settings App.

I've been having this issue for a month or more now and it was when an update was pushed that I lost my BT and WiFi connection. I've rebooted, power cycled and last ditch effort recovery mode my phone and nothing works. It is annoying now because certain apps need a wifi connection to load. Look Apple not everyone can afford to pay a 1k for a phone (ridiculous) and when we finally pay it off it's some new rigamarow to get us to buy again. Please fix the issue. Thank you!!!

I don't think it is an antenna problem. Too many people are experiencing the exact same symptoms. I think it is an iOS problem as everyone started experiencing wifi and BT problems after the 17.5 updates. I have now completely wiped my phone to factory reset and then reloaded 18, and the problem persists. In addition to these problems, my phone has begun to freeze up and auto-restart. The whole system is just not smooth, either. My gut tells me the newest iOS are simply too much new code for the processing speeds of older models of iPhones. This has never happened to me with Apple products before now. My thinking is that it is a faulty operating system from 17.5 onwards, not hardware problem.
