Can I open apps directly from a link, rather than it opening in Safari on my iPhone 14?

when i open a link for an app that i have downloaded, instead of opening it directly in the app it opens it on safari. this happens with open.spotify links, or instagram links for example. i am on iPhone 14, iOS version 17.4.1, and this issue happened before the last update too. i tried changing my default navigator to another one, but the issue still persisted.

Reset App Preferences: On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will reset all settings on your device, including any preferences related to app handling. Keep in mind that this won't delete any data, but you'll need to reconfigure your settings afterward.

A solution for some but not all: Open the link from Spotlight Search.

  1. Beginning with the page opened in your browser (Safari or other),
  2. Copy the link URL (usually Share > Copy)
  3. Navigate to Home screen (swipe from the bottom up, then tap an empty area)
  4. Swipe down from the middle area of the screen to bring up Spotlight Search
  5. Tap "Open Link" under "Link on Clipboard"
  6. Hope the link is opened in the appropriate app

I expect this will help people who are sometimes able to open a link in its corresponding app but who may be getting inconsistent results.
