How to maintain Bold Text consistency in Mac Outlook Emails?

I am experiencing problems typing emails in Outlook on my Mac. I can highlight a line to make it bold but when I highlight a second line the first reverts to regular type and the second line does not go bold. Also if I cut a word/line and then paste it dose not replace the word/line I have cut but something I highlighted previously!
