KEYNOTE FROM IPAD TO PROJECTOR

I have an iPad OS17.3.1. I bought the lightning to HDMI adaptor and it all works okay on the TV, but when I tried it on a projector it seemed to connect okay, but would not change to the presentation mode. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

I test it by taking the HDMI cable that is already in my TV and connecting the other end to this connector. Keynote through HDMI I have been having issue with playing videos in Keynote presentations when hooked up to a TV. When I get to a slide with a video it will remain blank, not play, and then advance to the next slide when I click. This does not happen every time, but the last 2 presentations it has only played correctly one time out the 6. This last one I had the videos on my desktop as a backup and they played fine through the connection on the TV. When the videos do not play, often the slides will also come through a little distorted, like they were put through a shredder. After researching online it seems like the suggestion is to use a VGA connection instead of HDMI but the TV's do not have that. I have tried shutting down other programs and turning off Wi-Fi to try and free things up and that has not helped. Is there anything else I can do to make the videos in Keynote work more reliably?

Connect Ipad2 to Epson 965H Projector I purchased a Lightning to Digital AV connector to connect to HDMI. When I first connected, it briefly projected the powerpoint. As I tried to scroll the powerpoint, I lost the signal and can not get it back. The IPad recognizes a dock connector and then the airplay logo at the top flashed. When I go to Airplay for screen mirroring it only gives me an Apple TV option. What am I doing wrong since it briefly projected my IPad screen??? Thanks.
