Notification sound but no banner/notification

This was driving me crazy, and I finally figured it out. Posting here for the others before me who have posted on this and (seemingly) never resolved the issue.

For me, it was a Custom Notification I set up for VIPs on my email app!

Settings > Mail > Notifications > (scroll alllll the way down) Customize notifications. I had turned on Alerts, Sounds for VIPs.

Google apps notifications don’t do sound and vibration. I need help, since iOS 15 to 16, I don’t have sound and vibration on Google apps, like YouTube, Google app, Family link, Google news, the notification banner appears but without notification sound and vibration. Only gmail do the notification sound because on the app have a setting to select the sound we want. But other Google app have the problem. I have all the sound enable on the settings on the app and on the iOS settings. Is this normal on this Google apps? Can someone help me?

Amazon notification does not produce sound I saw this was an unresolved issue over a year ago, and I am having the same problem. I get the banners etc on my Lock Screen but no sound even though it’s all tuned on in Notifications. My other apps that are set for sounds work but not the Amazon one. Has there been anything up since this problem came up in 2021?

Notification sound but no banner/notification can be found from any app... Throughout the day I will hear the notification sound from my phone, a fairly normal sound sound that has been wired to my dopamine production over the years. Until recently 100% of the time there would be a banner with the notification and I would see it, launch the app to read and reply (normally Instagram) and then get stuck doom scrolling for an hour. For the last few weeks though I have been getting ‘phantom notifications’ — the regular notification sound will play and I’ll check my phone but there isn’t an alert/banner/notification to be found anywhere. I’ll check right through the notification centre but nothing new and then I’ll launch apps to check their notifications and again nothing. Now this doesn’t happen 100% of the time, I still get the notification sounds with real notifications as well from text messages, emails, Instagram and so on. It’s something separate to a regular, real notification and is very annoying. Happens at random times each day and doesn’t seem to link up to anything, have any consistency. It’s driving me quite mad honestly.
