AirPod Volume Bug on Reconnect to Mac

I have a set of AirPod Pro 2 that I connect with my 14" Macbook Pro with M2 Pro running Sonoma 14.4.

I normally listen to my Music, calls, etc. on around 15% volume when using my AirPods. Sometimes, when I reconnect it will maintain that volume. Other times, however, it will jump the volume up to 50% which is both startling and painful to my ears.

I've tried re-producing the steps, but have been unable to specifically pinpoint a particular trigger, but I did notice a thread on Reddit where others have been experiencing the same issue:
