MagicMovie Photo Format Selection

I now use IMovie as a replacement for the now very limited flashback function of the Photos app. The Magic Movie function is also very good, except for one missing function. In the age of portrait format photography and 16:9 televisions to play videos, it should definitely be possible when editing drr Magic Movies to decide for YOURSELF whether the photo appears in landscape or portrait format in the Magic Movie. This missing option is really very annoying when editing the Magic Movies! Is there another way to solve this problem?
