Macbook Air Freezes when using Caps Lock

I've never encountered this issue before today...when trying to type something out on a browser, I engaged Caps Lock and all of a sudden my macbook air stalled out and froze for 5-10 seconds. It kept happening and I thought it was a browser issue, but I attempted the following to no avail: closing all browsers and reopening them, restarting my macbook air, downloading the newest ios software (Mac OS Sonoma 14.3.1). I saw in the apple community that this issue was happening in 2021, but am wondering how to fix this. I use Caps Lock intermittently throughout much of my work, so any help is valued. Context - I have a 2022 Macbook Air M2 Chip.
