Importing CD's - Mac shuts down or won't import

Running Sonoma 14.2.1: When trying to import a CD into iTunes, the MAC either shuts down with a fault of some kind, or, just gets stuck on the first song and never imports anything. CD device is connected via USB directly to the MAC. Same problem with the USB connection on the back of my monitor.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.2

Had same issue, finally found solution... go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, Files and Folders, "Allow the applications below to access files and folders"... Select "Music", enable "Removable Volumes"

Thanks, Apple, for continuing to ruin my music experience. Whenever there's an upgrade, we find that you folks have managed, again, to screw up the CD import process. I feel bad that Apple doesn't make enough money to properly support people who enjoy CDs. Instead, you encourage folks to just pay for and download their music from you. I can see a day coming when it will no longer be possible for anyone to import a CD, or anything else, into your "walled garden." I seriously doubt that the obstacles you create are the result of consumer demand for an ever-changing user interface, but, instead are the result of someone at Apple wanting to cause incremental frustration for their users who enjoy listening to their CDs, then steering them, instead, to purchase their music from you.

Your products used to be so intuitive and user-friendly. I miss those days.
