2019 MacBook Air fan randomly started running constantly.

Thanks Ruskes. I tried it but I get the error message, "unable to get smc values." Do you have any other suggestions? (Besides the genius bar, of course.)

Do you have any non apple apps installed like "Fan Control" ?

To verify start in safe mode which will only load Apple apps.

Shift (⇧): Start up in safe mode.

I'm having the exact same problem and it began about the same time. I've tried all the things. I'm beginning to think the update to 14.3.1 is the cause.

sudo powermetrics --samplers smc |grep -i "CPU die temperature"

It will ask you for password

CPU die temperature: 49.50 C

CPU die temperature: 49.48 C

CPU die temperature: 49.51 C

CPU die temperature: 49.48 C

Lets try to find out if your CPU is getting hot

Use this in terminal

sudo powermetrics --samplers smc |grep -i "CPU die temperature"

normal temperature is not more than 60C

stop it with control C
