pulling iCloud photos without changing datecreated or dateadded
whenever i download my photos from iCloud.com, they all have their datecreated and dateadded fields set to the current datetime. how can i avoid this? i just want to download and store the files with the original metadata. i have no desire to use photos or any other photo management app longterm, but i will consider using such an app temporarily if it can help me successfully remove my photos from iCloud.
when researching online, i see post after post of folks complaining about this issue over several years, and no one seems to have a real solution except to say that the date the photo was taken might be in the exif metadata. i do not want the date in the exif metadata - i want it in datecreated (or dateadded) so that the files can be easily sorted in finder.
absolutely insane to me that apple can't seem to handle one of the most basic features of a camera phone: exporting the pictures to an external device. The only reason I used iCloud in the first place was because of how extremely unreliable and buggy Image Capture is, and now i'm finding out that my monthly payments to iCloud have just created an even bigger problem for me.
i will likely discontinue my use of all apple products going forward if no one can give me a real solution. as far as i can tell, this is a central feature of iCloud that has been broken for years with no resolution in sight.
