Logic Pro 10.8.1 won't open a window

Hi,

Logic Pro has not been working for me since yesterday. The app opens, but no window is visible. I can see the App Menu, but almost everything is greyed out. For example, File > New is greyed out. The only thing that works is the settings window. Till yesterday I didn't experience any crashes.

I am using:

  • MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro
  • Logic Pro 10.8.1

Things I have tried:

  • Removed all plugins.
  • Disconnected all devices from the computer.
  • Restarted the computer.
  • Reset Logic Pro settings.
  • Uninstalled with BuhoCleaner.
  • Reinstalled Logic Pro.
  • Even tried running it using Rosetta.
  • Tried with Core Audio disabled and enabled.
  • Reinstalled sound library.
  • ActivityMonitor shows CPU usage for Logic Pro above 99% all the time.

GarageBand works.

Here is what I see under File & Window.

Nothing helps. I have already found similar problems on the internet, but no good solution. I would like to avoid reinstalling the system since it is very time-consuming and it can happen again, and I won't be able to fix it.

Thank you!

This one is a head scratcher, especially if you created another account and it still won't open. I recommend contacting Apple Suport. Logic Pro - Official Apple Support

Follow down to the bottom and select Get Support. Select Mac on the next page and the call suport on the next page. They are pretty quick on calling you back. You'll want to set some time for them to hopefully figure out what is going on with your problem.

And when you (hopefully) have a solution, please share on here.

There are a few cases on the internet. Usually, people spend a lot of time with Apple support, and in the end, they have to reinstall everything. That is not an option for me at the moment.

Till this is resolved, I will just use Garageband. In the mean time, I tried the following things:

Nothing worked for me, but maybe you can try if it helps you.

Nothing useful. The settings window can open, and I can change the settings. I tried resetting everything and changing the core audio, but nothing helped.

I guess some script in the software is looping. It takes around 99% CPU all the time. It doesn't look like a memory leak, because the RAM usage is not changing. This could be caused by some files which would have invalid values. Someone who had the same issue had to reinstall the system and Logic Pro started to work.

I also created a new user, but it doesn't help.
