Bulletin ringtone gone since IOS update 17

Ever since the IOS 7 update and each subsequent update, my favorite tone "Bulletin" that was provided with the phone is gone. It isn't located anywhere. I initially thought I have too many personal tones and space was being made but that doesn't seem credible anymore. The tone, in alphabetical order, is just not there. And I recall a few other classic tones that are not under Classic. How do I get just Bulletin back? It was my favorite and I want it back.

I also used the "Bulletin" tone as a custom text sound for specific contacts and was disappointed when the tone was not available after iOS 17 update. If you don't want to wait and see if Apple re-adds it in a future update (which may or may not happen), you can always create the tone with GarageBand and export it as a ringtone and it will then be selectable as a tone. This is what I did.

If you are interested in doing so and are not familiar with using GarageBand (like I was), then you can watch the YouTube video "How To Add Custom Notification Sounds On iPhone" by WebPro Education to see how to create the tone and export it as a ringtone.

I found the tone on zedge.net and downloaded it and it automatically saved it in the "Downloads" folder of the "Files" app on my iPhone. When I used GarageBand to load the sound file, I selected the "Files" tab and then selected "Browse items from the Files app" and selected On My iPhone and then Browse and under Favorites was the Downloads folder with the downloaded sound file. I imported the file into GarageBand and then exported it as a ringtone and now it is available under Sounds & Haptics (or when editing Contacts for personal tones) to be assigned as a text tone.

There was one thing that I found in GarageBand that was not covered in the YouTube video and that is there is a triangle symbol next to the red record button (when using Audio Recorder). Make sure the triangle symbol is white and not blue. If it is blue, then there will be a constant tapping sound (like to keep a beat) in addition to the bulletin tone. If the triangle symbol is white, then there is no tapping sound.

Apple changed a lot of things with Ringtones and Text Tones in iOS 17. The tone you want has been retired, so you can't get it back. You can go to the Tone Store and see if you can find one you might want to purchase which reminds you of that tone, but the tone itself is no longer an available option.

The fact is, the tone you want It is no longer available as a text tone. That was a decision Apple chose when iOS 17 rolled out. To expect anyone here to be able to explain why Apple did anything different isn't going to happen. This is a user to user only forum. We don't work for Apple. We didn't make the decision to remove the tone you want from the text side and we don't know why Apple still permits it in the phone side. But they made the change. And they own iOS, not us or you. We only have a license to use iOS.

This is not entirely true since the bulletin ringtone is still available for telephone calls. Previous to iOS 17, I had the bulletin ringtone tied to both calls and text from specific numbers that were important and used for emergency bypass. If it’s still available to use for incoming calls, it makes no sense that the same tone is not available for text messages.

I don’t agree with your explanation and would like more details as to why it’s available in one spot and not another.
