Issue with editing Contacts on iPhone

In Contacts when NOT in Edit mode, text previously entered in Notes can be edited/changed without selecting edit first. Can this behavior be changed so text in Notes field is not (accidentally) altered?

iPhone 11 iOS 17.3 (this behavior has been around before I upgraded to 17.0)

My iPhone 15 Pro as well as IPhone 13 Pro, and IPhone 8 will edit when I open Contacts. I am NOT IN EDIT mode. This has been a bug for many years.

I hate it. It allows for mistakes when touching or copying a word in Contacts.

Notes under Contacts can be added/changed/modified without enabling "Edit"

  • The feature that you have mentioned still exists on my iPhone 8 iOS 16.7.5
  • The same feature on my iPhone SE (1st Gen) iOS 15.8.1

When NOT in Edit mode, Notes under Contacts cannot be edited is what you desire.

So I am not clear when you say: "(this behavior has been around before I upgraded to 17.0) "
